Embracing Growth: My CKS Certification Journey

#CKS

It was a call of a action sweeped into kubernetes:

When I decided to go for the Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) certification, I was both excited and a bit nervous. This wasn’t just another exam; it was a chance to dive deep into Kubernetes security, something that was becoming super important in tech. I knew it would be a challenge, but I was ready to learn.

Immersing Myself in Learning

The first few weeks were a mix of information overload and excitement. I started taking online courses, learning about important topics like network security and user permissions. Some concepts clicked right away, while others felt confusing at first. I spent evenings studying, sometimes feeling like I was drowning in details, but I was determined to get it.

The Ups and Downs

Throughout my studies, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions. There were moments when I felt really proud of myself, like when I finally understood a tricky concept. But there were also times I hit roadblocks and felt frustrated, especially when I made mistakes during hands-on exercises. I kept reminding myself that struggling was part of the learning process.

Getting Hands-On Experience

To really understand what I was learning, I set up my own Kubernetes cluster. This was both fun and challenging. I faced various problems, like fixing errors in my setup or figuring out security issues. Each challenge taught me something new, and I loved seeing my knowledge grow through practical experience.

Finding Support in the Community

I wasn’t in this alone. I took the kodekloud subscription and spent spent around 1600 charges from google cloud to prepare for the CKS along with it had gone through the documentation page of each topic in detail and understood the points clearly.

Preparing for the Exam

As the exam date got closer, I felt the pressure ramping up. I spent more time reviewing everything I had learned, taking practice tests, and running through real-world scenarios. There were moments of doubt — was I really ready for this? But I kept focused, reminding myself of all the hard work I put into it.

Exam Day

On the day of the exam, I was a bundle of nerves. Sitting in front of my system, I took a deep breath and thought about how much I had practiced. I started doing each question one by one, trusting my practice was little bad experience due to internet issue and power cut after attempting 12 questions and left with 4 more questions so when power back I started the checking process but exam got end very next day got the result it failed to score 67%, I raised the ticket on support and rescheduled the exam again so this time I passed scored 86% percent, it was just amazing feeling of achivement…

The Joy of Passing…

When I finally got the results, I was overjoyed to see that I had passed! It was an amazing feeling — not just because I earned a certification, but because I had worked so hard for it. This achievement showed me that all those late nights and challenging moments were worth it and anyone who wants to purse the technology in depth.

Looking Back

Reflecting on my journey, I realized that it was about more than just learning about Kubernetes security. It taught me about resilience, the importance of community, and how to keep pushing through challenges. Passing the CKS certification opened up new opportunities for me, but the biggest takeaway was the confidence I gained in my ability to learn and grow and took experience which filled me and many ups and downs during learning. It showed me that with determination, support, and a willingness to learn, anyone can overcome challenges. I’m excited to use what I’ve learned and continue my journey in tech!
